Eliza Bennetts O’Connor is a Melbourne-based soprano praised for her ‘sweet and delicate tone.’ Eliza has performed with Victorian Opera, iOpera, BK Opera, Early Music group e21, the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, Bons Ventos Baroque and the Victoria Chorale across a range of concert, opera and early music repertoire. This year, Eliza is delighted to have been selected as an emerging artist with The Song Company. Her recent solo performance credits include Cupid in Venus & Adonis (Blow), Belinda in Dido and Aeneas (Purcell), Tytania in A Midsummer Night's Dream (Britten) and Rosita in Un Mari a la Porte (Offenbach). As a concert performer, Eliza has performed the soprano solos in Rejoice in the Lamb (Britten) and Gloria (Vivaldi). Her chorus credits include L'Incoronazione di Poppea (Monteverdi), Dialogue of the Carmelites (Poulenc), The Magic Pudding (Bowman) and The Cunning Little Vixen (Janáček). In 2020, Eliza was also a principal artist for a Victorian Opera initiative, Baby Bilby Loves to Sing. Alongside her performance pursuits, Eliza is a core member and soprano scholar with the St. James Old Cathedral Voices. Eliza holds both a Bachelor of Music (Classical Voice) and a Master of Music (Opera Performance) for which she graduated with first-class honours from The Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. During her studies, Eliza’s artistry and development were recognised and supported by the Francis Quinn Arts Excellence, Margaret Schofield Memorial and the Murray Ormond Vagg Scholarships.
