Giovanni De Simone (He/Him) is a baritone based in Melbourne. Giovanni is currently studying a Bachelor of Music (Hons) at the University of Melbourne under the tutorship of Stephen Grant, where he was awarded the Ellinor Gertrude Harris Bequest during his first year. Some of his significant performances include: Chorister for the Hugh Jackman World Tour 2019; Joseph Twist’s The Grumpiest Boy in the World 2021; “Fidelio” in Schubert’s The Friends of Salamanca (online) 2021; “Peter Quince” in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream 2022; Chorister in Consort of the Moon (Rising festival) 2023; “Invention” in The Blood Vote (Melbourne Fringe) 2023; Opera in the Country – Girgarre 2023. Other recent engagements include winning the Brian Hansford Award at Liederfest 2023, and a lied masterclass and performance with Dr Graham Johnson OBE 2023. Giovanni has also been a member of Opera Scholars Australia since 2022 and frequently sings at his local parish.
