EXPECTATIONS & AGREEMENT

Overview

 

As a valued Panel Member of the FLUXUS Opera Lab, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of Australian opera innovation. Your insights and experience will guide the development of bold, new operatic works by emerging and mid-career writers and composers. 

 

As a panellist and expert in your field, you will serve as an ambassador of the program with the expectation that you will reach out and encourage your creative networks to submit their ideas.

Your Role & Responsibilities

1. Review Submissions
   - Assess applications through our online form.
   - Your feedback will help determine a shortlist of the most promising proposals.
    

2. Shortlist Deliberation (via Zoom)
   - Participate in a panel Zoom meeting (no more than 2 hours) between 10 February and 17 March.
   - Together with fellow panel members, you will decide the recipients of two $5,000 grants.
   -  Advise on matchmaking requests
   - Help match applicants with mentors to support their project development.
    

3. Optional Mentorship
   - Where applicable, panel members may also choose to serve as paid mentors.
    

4. Confidentiality & Conflict of Interest
   - All submissions are to be treated as confidential.
   - Any direct involvement with a submission must be declared to the panel.
   - We do, however, encourage you to promote the opportunity and invite your students or emerging artists you know to apply.
    

5.  Fees
   - A flat fee of $500 will be provided for your time and expertise as a panel member.
   - Mentorship will be paid at a flat fee of $150 p/h (maximum of 6 hours per submission).
    

6. Other ways to support the Lab
   - in kind support (physical space, marketing/social media support etc)
   - Waiving your fee (please tick the box below)
   - Financial contribution via the Australian Cultural Fund

 

 

Key Dates

• Launch: Mon 27 & Tue 28 October

• Submissions Open: Wed 29 October

• Submissions Deadline: Tue 10 February

• Panel Review & Zoom Discussion: Between 10 Feb – 17 Mar

• Grant Recipients Announced: Tue 24 March
